Overall, still a solid banh mi cafe. Pricing is higher for china town pricing, but their quality speaks for itself. Favorite is the pate chicken. Their other cuts are good too but their specialty is the shredded chicken and with pate & butter the combo is perfection. Cash only! Call ahead to place order to reduce wait times.

Hard to beat this local spot in bellaire. Can get busy on weekends, but they're pretty quick (5-10 minutes). Cash only but good prices too. Fresh veggies and great bread of course. The special is classic, but I liked the bbq pork more. Ask for extra butter and pate, it's worth it

The Banh Mi (#1) landscape in Houston is as vast as it is competitive. Nguyen Ngo's claim to fame is their croissant banh mi, which has garnered plenty of local praise. As much as it's a gimmick, it's enough to keep bringing me back. The croissant is soft, which is a nice change of pace from the usual choice mouth cuts of the classic French baguette. The croissants used to run out everyday by 2 to 3:00 p.m., but lately I've seen them available even into the evening. I particularly enjoy one slathered in extra pate with dac bet trimmings. It might not look as hearty as a regular banh mi, but it is definitely one of the more unique items in this part of town. The regular banh mi is also a decent choice. The appeal is a notch below the croissant ones but I've still had a pretty good luck with their thit nuong (grilled pork) with an egg and lots of pickled veg. The interior is as dingy as most dated places within this plaza. There is however a very quiet vibe which makes me want to spend time in here and not have to deal with people watching at a coffee shop. There are some tables to spread out but it's rarely ever truly busy in here except for on the weekends. The place is owned by an older Vietnamese couple that speak very good English. Every single time I've been here I've only paid in cash and I don't think they take credit card. Parking is pretty easy because it's in a shared lot and I would avoid using the restrooms if at all possible. Ultimately, I don't know if they serve the banh mi in town, but they are one not to miss. ____________ (#1) Say it with me, BUN ME. Enough with that auto-bahn-mi sillyness.

One of the best Banh Mi spots in Houston hands down! Super affordable and absolutely delicious. They do not skimp out on any ingredient. What makes them unique is their croissant Banh Mi. Such a genius idea that I'm surprised not more places are doing. Delicious cold cuts of meat and pate inside a buttery croissant... my mouth is watering just thinking about it again! Definitely support this local favorite of mine and be sure to bring cash!

I would consider Nguyen Ngo a top 3 banh mi place for me. The bread is that perfect French bread and nice and crispy. Comes with all the right toppings: cucumber, cilantro, carrot, jalapeno, and some of that special sauce (though I wish mine came with more). The pork is great, will have to try the grilled beef next time. Prices are decent, despite inflation, but $10 (cash only!) will get you two banh mi, which is more than enough for a satisfying meal.

It's cash only take-out with limited seating. They have one of the best banh mi piled with goodies. The choices are limited though. Service is rushed so you better know what you want before you approach the counter. The thick banh mi is worth the frenzy.

I come here pretty often. They make their own cold cuts, pate and such that you can order on the side if you decide to make your own sandwiches at home. There isn't so much of decorating or anything, it's does its job, they have a few tables inside to dine in. Comparable to most banh place but they sell smaller loaves as well so if the regular size is too much for you. If you don't let them know the default dac biet (special combo) is chicken pate and floss. You have to let them know you want pork. Flavoring is different. Why 4 stars? They're good but it's not to die for banh mi. Pretty standard. I've had better so I'm leaving room for improvement. I'll be back for sure.

Mom recommended this place. Wow, what a hidden gem! Prices range from $4.75-$7.25 depending on the type of sandwich you get. They have baguette or croissant options. They are not shy with the amount of meat they put on the sandwiches. Flavorful and tasty. Put this place on your Banh mi list.
